..and it’s seriously empowering. Wanna take your power back?  Start with this list and feel seriously empowered to crush all your goals. 1. Food is (almost) everything. We’d be lying to you if we said you could Rev like a maniac and eat all the cheesy pulled chicken tacos all the time and feel like a million bucks.  The truth is, no workout on the planet will change the way you look and feel the way that food can.  Yes genetics play a role (don’t we all have that uncle who puts bacon on everything, smokes a pack a day, and lives to 102?) but by and large, healthy food has serious power. 2. We don’t know sh*t. We’re not sure when the world decided that personal trainers and bootcamp leaders were nutrition experts, but unless they’ve studied the field, they’re not.  We don’t tell you what to eat because we’re not food pros.  During our challenges, we always share what works for us.  Sometimes Revvers ask, why doesn’t Revkor hire a nutrition expert to plan our 8 week meals?  Two reasons: 1) we believe that if we learn and think for ourselves, we succeed  by bring empowered.  2) because there is no one-size fits all way of eating.  Guys who are 200+ pounds need way more food and energy than someone half the size. We have women who are breastfeeding, menopausal, tall, small, and everything in between.  People have allergies, intolerances, likes and dislikes. We should never be letting fitness people tell us what to eat - whether you’re a Revver or not, we encourage you to really think about this piece. 3....

It’s not about diets or meal plans. One of the most common questions we get during our Shred season is: why didn’t you give me a meal plan?   Remember the cabbage soup diet?  How about the Master Cleanse?  Diets and cleanses imply that the body needs some sort of special and temporary scenario to achieve health, or that losing weight should be our focus. This is not true. Building a strong and healthy body means a commitment for life.  This is why our Shred is 8 weeks long, so that we have a chance to build healthy habits that we can sustain forever…not just for temporary results.  Because who wants that?  Don’t we want to be hardcore, super-strong, feel-good Revvers for the long-haul? We share basic tools and tips but the rest is in your hands, because it has to come from you.  Educating ourselves - getting support where we need it, and implementing shifts based on our own knowledge - empowers us to  create true change in our lives. True story. What we should eat in a day depends on so many factors: age weight activity level hormones special dietary needs If simply making clean, healthy choices and using the recipes we provide as inspiration isn’t enough for you, then you might like to hire a registered nutritionist to help you really get the tools that are customized just for you! Let’s commit to doing whatever it takes to educate ourselves to make the best choices possible, remembering that healthy, shred-worthy food should also be simple and seriously delish....

Beet the PSB Salad

Liver-loving beets with a tropical twist. Much like the infamous Revkor Reset salad, this new staple is one of our favourite ways to reset after a cheat meal or party-weekend.  Super-fresh, loaded with goodness, and easy to make, we love to prep a big batch and bring it for lunch throughout the week.  Perfect for beating the Post Shred Blues and jump-starting our clean-eating goals!   Make it happen: In a big bowl: 3 large raw beets, shredded beet greens if available, washed and chopped 6 raw carrots, shredded 2 tart apples (granny smith are perfect), chopped with peel on 2-3 green onion, finely chopped 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted Toss with vinaigrette: 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp olive oil 2  tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp maple syrup 1/8 tsp cinnamon salt, pepper Serve over fresh greens of your choice and top with toasted coconut and raw pepitas.  Enjoy revNATION!  ...

Post Shred Blues? We’ve got your fix.

Alright revNATION, we hear you loud and clear!  Some of you have a bad case of the PSBs, and who can blame you?  We’d be lying if we said that we aren’t also pining for the days of sticker boards and crazy Shred-season energy. Revkor Shred runs 8 weeks long for a reason: so that healthy habits become a lifestyle.  Hanging on to that lifestyle though isn’t easy, but guess what?  You’re tough stuff, and you can do it. If you think you’re the only one who’s fallen off the Shred-rails, guess again.  Does this sound familiar? Wowieee!  I really crushed that Shred!  I’m feeling better than I’ve felt in YEARS.  I’m going to celebrate with poutine and a pitcher of beer.  Maybe I’ll see a movie this Saturday instead of Revving.  You know, it’s not that big of a deal to order the extra large popcorn at the movies.  I mean, corn is a WHOLE GRAIN.  Wow.  I’m feeling bloated, I think I’m going to skip revMIX this morning and watch Making a Murderer on Netflix in my track pants.   Just one episode.  Ok three - because really, this is important world news, it would be IRRESPONSIBLE not to know how this story plays out.  Know what goes really well with Netflix?  Pizza.  Oh geez.  Look what I’ve done with my results.  I let myself down - just when I was totally getting somewhere.  I’m such a colossal weenie. Revive Smoothie – Kid Approved!

The change of seasons brought a lot of nasty flus and bugs with it this year!  This smoothie is packed with Vitamin C, and I added greek yoghurt for probiotics since half the house is on antibiotics.  You can omit the yoghurt for a dairy-free version. I was floored that the kids drank and loved this smoothie.  They watched me put loads of “salad” in the blender which had them feeling pretty skeptical, but the orange creamsicle taste makes it irresistible!   MAKE IT HAPPEN: Makes 4 smoothies - 2 kids’ sized and 2 adult. In your blender: 3 frozen bananas 1/2 cup plain greek yoghurt 1/2 head of romaine lettuce, washed 2 whole oranges, seedless and peeled 1/2 cup of frozen mango 3 dates 2 scoops hemp protein 1/2 cup coconut milk 1 cup of water 8 - 10 ice cubes dash of vanilla optional 1/8 cup of shredded coconut (most kids can’t handle the “bits”) Makes a killer morning smoothie for the whole fam AND perfect for pre or post Rev energy!  Amp up the protein in your own smoothie as the perfect post-Rev meal on the go....
