REBELLION: The Crush.

REBELLION: The Crush.

It’s now or never…this is GO-TIME. This Week’s Rebel truth gets right to the point: To get where we want to go, we have to get out of our own way. As we move through the last few weeks of Rebellion, it’s more important than ever to keep our Rebel-game STRONG. Why is our success sometimes sabotaged? Because of US. Sometimes it feels like everything stands in the way of our goals.  News flash: The universe isn’t out to get you….life is hard. It’s our thinking that stands in the way of seeing what we want and going for it. Rebels get this. We have to learn how to weather the storms with grace by caring for ourselves throughout the tough stuff. When life is at its hardest, your healthy habits and positive, rebellious mindset are what will help you through. (Big obstacles in your life these days? We’ve come to believe that the greater the obstacle, the more badass the reward anyway, so let’s simply see road blocks as a wicked puzzle to solve so we can get to other side and say “HELL YES….I did it!”) HOW TO CRUSH. No tricks here, just solid GRIT. TRY HARDER. Don’t allow I CAN’T dialogue into the day.  There is always an answer. Reach out to your coaches for support. THE GOOD FORCE: By focusing on our strengths, perceived weaknesses take a back-seat allowing positivity to rule. Use this superpower daily. HABITS VS GOALS.  Goal crushed? Sometimes hitting a benchmark gives us the sense that we can stop working…this is why we prefer setting habits versus goals. Goals are great, but they...
The STEAM Force

The STEAM Force

It’s a marathon. It’s about living well forever, not just for 8 weeks. Most Revvers know about our Balls + Steam story.  We already dug deep to find the balls to start this challenge, and we keep on finding the guts and courage each week as we set new goals and challenges, right? Big dreams and lofty goals are nothing without the STEAM to see them through. Over the years we’ve learned that there’s always a point in an 8 Week Challenge where Revvers need and deserve a hardcore RESET - a little reminder that it’s not supposed to be easy; it’s gonna take some perseverance to stay the course. Build “STEAM Force” Muscle. Sometimes finding the STEAM to truck along isn’t so hard - other times it feels damn near impossible.  Life can be unpredictable and challenges in so many different ways - here are some tips to help. Rebel tricks. RESET. We choose to RESET any time we need!  Revisit goals always. STAY COOL: We get this idea that when we choose positivity for ourselves, others will think this is awesome. Not so. Intentionally or not, people may try and stand in our way. Remember that this is about them, not us. And it’s ok to hang out less with people who aren’t on board. REBEL-LOVE. A Rebel needs care!  Nourish yourself with rest, alone-time, and awesome food (not to mention massages, facials…!). BE POSITIVE. We try to notice if our language and energy becomes negative - that’s when we know we need a serious Reset.  Bad vibes breed more of the same, and we try and take responsibility.  That positive boost isn’t easy to find....
REBELLION: The Reset

REBELLION: The Reset

There is always right now. Our Rebel truth as we launch our Week 5? Everyone who sets a goal will falter.  Those who succeed are those who accept stumbles as part of the process, and get back on their path no matter what. During our 8 week Rebellion, we launch into a huge effort toward positive change on so many levels: we’re working out with more focus and drive, we’re stepping up our clean eating goals, and we’re challenging ourselves to live a little larger than we ever have before. That doesn’t mean there aren’t small and big barriers standing in our way.  Whether it’s the people around us; our habits, fears and temptations; or simply super-busy schedules, Rebels realize that sticking to goals isn’t going to be easy. We’re working hard to implement that Grind Switch, but sometimes we need a total do-over. For Rebels, this is no problem.  Whatever happened yesterday, there is always right now to choose that Rebel path. Dig deep and take a do-over. You know that old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough get going?  When our 8 week challenge is on a high note and we’re feeling like a million bucks, it’s actually pretty easy to stay the course because we’re bolstered be a feeling of accomplishment, pride, and kicks energy from our workouts. Sure it takes work, but often times we get into The Zone and things just flow with more ease.  The really impressive - and game-changing - thing is to develop the tenacity persevere when times are tough. Here are our 8 favourite ways to get back on the horse: Live NOW:  Leave judgment...
Lessons from Mini-Rebels.

Lessons from Mini-Rebels.

The Monkey Bar Factor. A couple years ago I was just getting to know my now step kids.  Six and eight at the time, we were hanging out on a January morning at the park. The oldest was standing on top of a monkey bar dome with the little one half-way up the side, trying to figure it all out. “How did you get up there?” she asked. His response is actually something I think of this daily, and share with our Bandits at instructor training. “So here’s what you do,” he explained to his sister.  “First, you just climb as high as you can. Then when you’re afraid, you stop.” Ah, I thought. Interesting advice - just do your best and stop when the going gets a little intense. Very safe - responsible-brother advice.  Then he continued. “You close your eyes and ask yourself if you can go farther.  You have to listen to your gut here.” Wow, I thought - he’s getting into the gut!  I was intrigued to hear an 8 year-old’s advice on intuition.  I figured he’d say that if your gut tells you to chill where you are, then you chill…try harder next time. He continued: “If your gut tells you not to go any farther, you have to think really hard for a moment and make sure you’re just afraid. If you’re safe and you’re just scared, then you push against your fear and put ONE HAND on the next bar. Then you ask yourself again - are you safe? You put one foot, and one more hand. You just keep doing that until you get to the top.” I...
The YET Force

The YET Force

You will. The YET Force is inspired by “The Power of Yet”, part of scientist Carol Dweck’s “Growth Mindset”. Dweck observed that intelligence or ability isn’t fixed.  When students believe they can get smarter, they work harder to establish ability. When it comes to fitness and life in general, The YET Force can change your future. Is it that we can’t do Mountain Climbers? Or is it that we can’t do them YET?  We didn’t get that promotion, or we didn’t get it YET? Odds are that we just need to find THE GUTS to try harder and see just what it is we’re capable of.  We have to SEE our success and believe we can improve. This is The YET Force. Build “YET Force” Muscle. The YET Force is one of the most simple Rebel Superpowers to integrate. Let’s use it all day every day to completely redefine the story we tell ourselves about our own abilities. Rebel tricks. TURN IT AROUND.  Just like The GRIT Force, the best way to use this superpower is to REPHRASE.  Here’s our Rebel take on how to reposition I CAN’T into WATCH ME. I BLEW IT. Rebel Translation: Ok that didn’t work, what can I learn here? I CAN’T DO THIS. Rebel translation: I can’t do this YET, but I’m going to work harder to try. I SUCK AT CARDIO. Rebel translation: I’m gonna focus on building endurance, I can do this! I’LL NEVER BE FIT.  Rebel translation: Being fit is a process - I’m on that road and I won’t quit. THAT’S THE BEST I CAN DO. Rebel translation: That was pretty badass…what more have I...
REBELLION: The Guts

REBELLION: The Guts

We can do a lot more than we think. Each week we’ve highlighted a hardcore Rebel truth.  As we head into Week 4, let’s recap, superstars! WEEK ONE: The TAKE-BACK! The greatest successes are born out of passion. We took our power back… instead of focusing on ways others think we should look, feel and act, we highlighted reasons to crush that resonate with us. WEEK TWO: The GRIND! The road to great success is paved with HARD WORK.  We accepted this hardcore truth and embraced the challenge. WEEK THREE: The ZONE!   Those who succeed develop the ability to focus and drown out the doubts.  It’s up to us to keep our eye on the prize. In WEEK FOUR, our Rebel truth is this: Crushing goals requires THE GUTS to face fears. Being GUTSY is the ability to turn toward risk and say, I’VE GOT THIS. There is nothing wrong with fear, in fact we’d be pretty careless if we weren’t afraid of anything.  Doubting ourselves is a good sign that we’re not arrogant, that we operate with purpose and integrity.  Fear is a sign that we have a choice to make, and the right choice could be the difference between status quo or a goal crushed beyond belief, so as Rebels we train ourselves to appreciate fear - it’s a chance to make huge things happen. How to find The Guts. Courage is a muscle that needs flexing. If you’ve lost some of your gumption over the years, fear not.  Just like working out, courage is a muscle that gets stronger the more we work it.  Like anything, we start with small risks. Here’s how we...
