The YET Force

The YET Force

You will. The YET Force is inspired by “The Power of Yet”, part of scientist Carol Dweck’s “Growth Mindset”. Dweck observed that intelligence or ability isn’t fixed.  When students believe they can get smarter, they work harder to establish ability. When it comes to fitness and life in general, The YET Force can change your future. Is it that we can’t do Mountain Climbers? Or is it that we can’t do them YET?  We didn’t get that promotion, or we didn’t get it YET? Odds are that we just need to find THE GUTS to try harder and see just what it is we’re capable of.  We have to SEE our success and believe we can improve. This is The YET Force. Build “YET Force” Muscle. The YET Force is one of the most simple Rebel Superpowers to integrate. Let’s use it all day every day to completely redefine the story we tell ourselves about our own abilities. Rebel tricks. TURN IT AROUND.  Just like The GRIT Force, the best way to use this superpower is to REPHRASE.  Here’s our Rebel take on how to reposition I CAN’T into WATCH ME. I BLEW IT. Rebel Translation: Ok that didn’t work, what can I learn here? I CAN’T DO THIS. Rebel translation: I can’t do this YET, but I’m going to work harder to try. I SUCK AT CARDIO. Rebel translation: I’m gonna focus on building endurance, I can do this! I’LL NEVER BE FIT.  Rebel translation: Being fit is a process - I’m on that road and I won’t quit. THAT’S THE BEST I CAN DO. Rebel translation: That was pretty badass…what more have I...
REBELLION: The Take-Back

REBELLION: The Take-Back

Week One: We take it back. Here’s a single truth we cannot change: The biggest successes in the world are born out of passion.   This, Rebels, is why we have to start our 8 Week Take-Back by - you guessed it - taking the power back. Have you ever noticed?  Typically when we try to do things for the wrong reason or go against our gut, we fail.  Can you think back to any examples of this in your own life?  We sure as hell know we can. There are so many things in life we do because we feel we have to, and most times this is what leads us astray.  And when we do follow our passion, people tell us we’re crazy or that we’ll fail - with big and small things.  Any of these sound familiar? “You can’t actually make a living as an artist.” “You won’t look good with short hair.” “Why would you want to run a marathon?” “Don’t get the special, you always order the steak.” “You’d have to be crazy to give up that job.” Here’s the thing, and we’ll scream it in all-caps to help make this point oh-so clear: THE COOLEST SH*T IN THE WORLD HAPPENS WHEN WE SAY EFF THAT, I’M TRUSTING MY GUT AND GOING FOR IT. What does this have to do with workouts and meals? EVERYTHING.  What’s our driver for launching into this 8 Week Take-Back?  If numbers on a scale or a goal outfit are our answer, then we might have to dig deeper.  Why?  Because we won’t succeed unless we’re INSANELY PASSIONATE about our path and...
5 Ways to CHOOSE your best day.

5 Ways to CHOOSE your best day.

Are you on auto-pilot?  Overloaded?  Sacrificing workouts because you feel too damn busy? We’ve got you covered. Most days we wake up, reach for the phone, and check all our emails and social media before our feet even hit the floor.  We all do it, and we all know it’s the best possible way to have a crappy start. For most of us our mornings are a routine race against the clock instead of the glorious fresh start they should be. Revving up our commitment to fitness and healthy living is pointless if it’s adding stress…there’s no use building our strongest, hottest bod if we’re shaving years off our lives by feeling like we’re constantly racing to make things happen Here are our 5 favourite ways to slow down and CHOOSE awesome. Screenless mornings. Let’s wake up and BE in our world.  Our emails and newsfeeds aren’t going anywhere, right?  Let’s take ONE HOUR in the morning to wake up and set the tone of the day before diving into technology.  Enjoy morning coffee and breakfast.  Put some good music on.  Take ten minutes and jot down a few goals and even a few things we’re grateful for.  Now THAT’S a sure-fire way to start the day right. Cut yourself some slack. Adopting healthier habits isn’t about hating ourselves every time we fall of the rails and have a secret poutine binge in the car.  Not that I would ever do anything like that - I’m just saying, people might accidentally go through the drive-through. Cheesy fries covered in gravy can happen, especially to Canadians. What do you do?  Press the Revkor™ Reset Button of...
