Because something has to change.

Because something has to change.

All we did was google: “fitness magazine covers”. We actually pay people to tell us this sh!t. Even if we don’t buy these kinds of magazines, these messages still scream at us in the market line-up, on highway billboards, and worst of all, where we work out. Marketers need us to feel too old, too fat, and too skinny. We drank the juice, too. For years, WE were buying the same old crap for ourselves. Why? Because we’re born and raised in the fitness industry, where body-shaming was born.  Want proof? Just check out these unfathomable gym ads.  We all fall prey to the cycle of guilt, and we knew we had to do something to change it. It’s always been about taking the power back. This is why Rebellion was born: so we could band together to end the cycle. Listen, there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, or to look and feel better. What needs to change is who decides how we feel about ourselves, and who decides what we do about it. There is one mother of a difference between striving for a healthy body weight, versus trying to sculpt a huge round butt and a 23 inch waist, just to be validated by Instagram likes.  Right? These messages affect all of us. If you have kids - hell, if you even know a kid - you should care about this A LOT. These are the messages kids and teens are seeing on social media every day. Who do they look up to? YOU. You’re their mom, dad, cool aunt, teacher, mentor, coach. Our...
How to stop.

How to stop.

When being strong means doing nothing at all. Twice each year we launch an 8 week challenge in our studios.  With the Rebellion, there’s no goal outfit, or tracking of pounds and inches, and certainly no going hungry.  Instead, we follow an 8 step coaching process designed to help us think more positively, set goals more effectively, and create healthy habits that can sustain us far beyond the 8 weeks. Most of us don’t realize how conditioned we’ve been to have a love-hate relationship with food and fitness, two things which should bring us so much joy! Here’s the hardest part. We might think that the most demanding part of a challenge like this is being diligent about meal prep, learning how to do some pretty tough fitness moves, or staying the course over a girl’s weekend or trip south. It’s not. There’s one thing that so many of our new Rebels struggle with, but our returning challengers even more.  Once we’ve created this gutsy, unstoppable Rebel lifestyle, what happens when we need to STOP? Sometimes real life happens, right?  Sometimes it’s something simple that slows us down, like a cold or an achy knee from an old injury. And sometimes it’s not simple one bit.  Real life includes losses, divorces, ups and downs with health, or attending to someone else’s needs. These things can throw us right off our game, so it’s vital that we remember this: We’re creating a healthy life.  Our bodies and our wellbeing need to be with us for the long-haul.  Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is stop to heal, rest, and...
Taking back meal prep!

Taking back meal prep!

Tackling the kitchen like we mean it. If setting yourself up for success in the kitchen feels like a grind, you need to read this.  We’re way more likely to crush something when we feel great about it! Revvers always tell us that they continue to work out at the bands because they love it.  Instead of dreading workouts, you actually found a workout you love - a place to come sweat that’s fun and lifts you up.  So how can we bring that same feeling to our kitchens? Here are our top ways to LOVE and crush meal prep. We’re sharing these because we know that when you LOVE to do something, it’s far easier to turn it into a habit that sticks, and healthy habits are what it’s all about. Take it Back!  Just like the first step of the Rebellion, take back meal prep! Planning meals shouldn’t feel like an obligation, and we should never feel like we’re dieting.  Preparing food is one of the most simple, fundamentally enjoyable things we can do.  Let’s put all the positivity we’ve got into it and LOVE that we’re taking time to nourish ourselves! Crank the tunes!  There’s nothing we love more than a killer playlist at the bands, and it’s no different in the kitchen!  Turn it up and enjoy the process. Plan.  Knowing exactly what you want to make in advance, shopping for ingredients, and being prepared makes it all come together easily.  be sure to have enough clean jars and containers on hand to store all your stuff! Be real.  There’s no need to make elaborate...

The permanent Take-Back. Remember where is all started?  At the beginning of this 8 week journey, we decided to take our power back.  We decided to be driven by a PASSION for being strong and healthy, instead of being motivated by BS ideals. Just because we’ve done the work doesn’t mean all the old tricks aren’t there.  We’re about to be inundated with New Year’s diets, detoxes, and bargain basement bootcamp deals all designed to make us feel like crap for enjoying the holidays…we have to keep taking it back. REBELLION: The Crush.

REBELLION: The Crush.

It’s now or never…this is GO-TIME. This Week’s Rebel truth gets right to the point: To get where we want to go, we have to get out of our own way. As we move through the last few weeks of Rebellion, it’s more important than ever to keep our Rebel-game STRONG. Why is our success sometimes sabotaged? Because of US. Sometimes it feels like everything stands in the way of our goals.  News flash: The universe isn’t out to get you….life is hard. It’s our thinking that stands in the way of seeing what we want and going for it. Rebels get this. We have to learn how to weather the storms with grace by caring for ourselves throughout the tough stuff. When life is at its hardest, your healthy habits and positive, rebellious mindset are what will help you through. (Big obstacles in your life these days? We’ve come to believe that the greater the obstacle, the more badass the reward anyway, so let’s simply see road blocks as a wicked puzzle to solve so we can get to other side and say “HELL YES….I did it!”) HOW TO CRUSH. No tricks here, just solid GRIT. TRY HARDER. Don’t allow I CAN’T dialogue into the day.  There is always an answer. Reach out to your coaches for support. THE GOOD FORCE: By focusing on our strengths, perceived weaknesses take a back-seat allowing positivity to rule. Use this superpower daily. HABITS VS GOALS.  Goal crushed? Sometimes hitting a benchmark gives us the sense that we can stop working…this is why we prefer setting habits versus goals. Goals are great, but they...
