The Rebel Kitchen

Stock your kitchen like a Rebel. The biggest secret to success is PREP.  Get your planning done and your pantry cleaned out!  Here are some of our favourite ways to make meal prep fun. Everyone’s body needs different food…there is no “one-size fits all” meal plan that really “works”.  Do your own research, note what foods make you feel amazing, and which don’t agree with you. We share what works for us. When it comes to food and diet trends, we choose to be fans of science and are always wary of the endless fear-based marketing messages.  Is it necessary to buy organic + hormone-free? Is there something really wrong with the favourite foods you’ve been eating for years? We think it’s all about balance and eating the best food you can, when you can. WHAT WILL I EAT? Every body needs different food. This is why the one-size-fits-all meal plans you may have received during fitness challenges before DID NOT WORK FOR YOU. You should not feel deprived, hungry or miserable about food, during challenge season. Rebel meals should be full of healthy, delicious food that you LOVE. Along the way, we’ll be sharing our favourite ways to amp up our eating for maximum health and vibrancy. We’ll also be sharing our favourite ways to time meals. Will they be right for you?  We’ll help you know how to decide. Do you have any health concerns related to diet? Do you ever feel the following after you eat? bloating abdominal pain or cramping nausea headaches and brain fog Food has a major impact on our health and wellbeing, and we need...
Guilt-free: It’s how we roll

Guilt-free: It’s how we roll

Live Unapologetically. If Thanksgiving is supposed to be a celebration of all we’re grateful for, why do we beat ourselves up for enjoying every minute of it? By now your Facebook feed is probably full of posts about food-regret and ways to jog off that turkey and stuffing. As most of you know, our Revkor Manifesto is: Work out. Eat clean. Live fully.  It’s not Work out. Eat Clean. Feel like crap about enjoying your life. We’re all about the Revkor Reset.   Revvers live life to the fullest…we work hard at the bands so that we can enjoy a balanced life.  We hit our workouts with positivity.  We put good effort into eating clean as best we can.  And we also embrace balance by including the other things we love into our lives! How blessed are we to have family and friends to enjoy big delicious meals with? How lucky to share fabulous evenings over good wine and conversation!  We’ve found a workout that gives us a strong, conditioned body and one of the main benefits of that is knowing that you can indulge from time-to-time because your body has become a lean and healthy magic machine!  It bounces back instantly, no matter how hard you went to town on Aunt Janet’s pumpkin pie.  Let’s say good bye to food/fun guilt…it’s pointless!   Let’s just keep moving forward, each and every day. Get to the bands.  Eat clean as best you can. And live the hell out of your life. Here’s a reminder of our top ways to reset this fall, and stay tuned, because our infamous Revkor Holiday Shred...
Get a Revkor™ Body.

Get a Revkor™ Body.

Erin Moraghan runs Revkor™ with her superstar partner Angela Rivard. She is a writer, Revkor™ instructor, yoga teacher, and business-builder. But who really cares? We’re here to talk about kale and muscles. Let’s do this! This is a Revkor™ body.  You can have one too. The photo in this post is of Angela Rivard, my business partner.  Pretty jacked, huh?  She’s not a fitness model, and certainly NOT photoshopped. She’s a real person just like us. A busy, driven, dynamic entrepreneur, small business owner, and single mom with all the demands and craziness as the rest of us.  And also like us, she loves herself a juicy burger, a big Cabernet, and a Friday night chocolate binge. So what makes her different? People ask her all the time: “Why do you look the way you do? What other workouts are you into?” We always have a good laugh about this.  If you know Ange, then you know she eats, sleeps and breathes Revkor™.  Sometimes we joke - what do people think? That she has a secret stash of weights in her back office?  That she wears a disguise to Crossfit to get ripped? I first met Angela just over a year after she started FLXyoga. Angela was strong, smart, and in fabulous shape, but things were about to rev up her awesome-factor…big-time. In early 2014 Angela developed her first FLXmix sequence.  I saw something completely transform in her.  YES, I saw a physical evolution but something else was evolving.  Angela had found her calling and the business hit its stride.  FLXyoga was already blowing people away, but Mix sequences were just what people’s bodies...
Chicken-Zoodle Shred!

Chicken-Zoodle Shred!

Whip this bad-boy up for lunch or dinner - the whole family will absolutely love it. We get asked all the time how we make our vegetable noodles.  You can buy a spiralizer for about 50 bucks.  We use one of these handy julienne peelers which cost us about $3…it gets almost as much of a workout as we do revNATION!  This thing is an absolute staple in any clean kitchen. This is a super light and creamy noodle dish with a sharp tang of lemon.  You can swap the chicken out for salmon or any white fish, or you can ditch the meat all together and make this vegan.  Amp up your protein in a vegan version by adding chickpeas or tempeh - if you eat soy. This recipe serves two. Make it happen: julienne/spiralize 4 zucchini and a carrot Thinly slice half a red pepper and half a red onion in a tsp of coco oil, sautée carrot with one clove of crushed garlic, onion add sliced cooked chicken and 3 tbsp of ground almonds and heat through. (Almonds provide a Parmesan-like texture - yum!) add juice and zest of one lemon, cracked pepper and sea salt add chopped arugula and cook for one minute add zucchini and sautée for 2 minutes put mixture in a big bowl and stir in one crushed avocado to make a creamy sauce. Add another squeeze of lemon and extra S+P to taste.  Serve immediately....
