REBELLION: The Zone

REBELLION: The Zone

Eye on the prize. In Week Two we got real about this Rebel truth: The road to great success is paved with HARD WORK…for life. As we tackle Week Three, our goal is to get into the unstoppable goal-crushing mode we call The Zone. Why? Because this is another guaranteed fact: Those who succeed develop the ability to focus and drown out the doubts. Hopefully in Week Two we got right into the mindset of The Grind.  Bring it on! Nothing can stop us.  Except for some of these…any sound familiar? Work is getting pretty busy, I’ll have to press The Reset next week. I’m just not feeling the results I want, it’s easier to just be “realistic” and tone down my efforts. My friends tell me I’m obsessed with my workouts, maybe I should ease off. I’m exhausted. Life is just too busy for all this. Maybe I’m not such a Rebel after all. Step One: Climb the hurdles. We get into The Zone by pushing past our doubts and choosing to become the person who achieves our goals. We think we’re the only one with a perpetual reel of discouraging dialogue going through our minds, but guess what?  It’s there for everyone.  From Oprah to Gretzky, we’re pretty sure we won’t find anyone who doesn’t battle that doubting voice inside. Busy? This is what last week’s GRIND SWITCH is for!  The reality is we have to TRY harder to make space for ourselves. Discouraged?  We all feel it from time to time.  Listen to the Bandits! Revkor instructors are there to motivate you.  Results come in due time - you will meet...
Reset Button? Meet Grind Switch.

Reset Button? Meet Grind Switch.

Reset Button? Meet The Grind Switch. If you’re a new Revver, you may not be familiar with the Revkor Reset.  Band veterans have been pressing the Reset button time and again - it’s been one of the key tools in our success tool box. Our philosophy has always been this: the only moment we can control is this one, right now.  Sometimes things go sideways and we fall off the rails: a mac and cheese binge, missing workouts, that single glass turns into 3… Getting down on ourselves does nothing in the name of our goals, so we press the handy Revkor Reset button.  We start fresh - getting back on the horse and going forward with brand new resolve.  Zero judgment, no self-loathing…these are dangerous responses that only sabotage everything awesome we’re striving for. In the name of the Rebellion however, we’re stepping the Reset up a notch.  Reset Button?  Meet THE GRIND SWITCH. There is a fine line between pressing The Reset and not trying.  Sounds harsh but hear us out because this is how champions are made, Rebels! Yes, it feels good to give ourselves a free pass, knowing that a Revkor Reset is right there when we need it.  Before we grab that free pass and run, can we challenge ourselves, one temptation at a time, to DIG DEEPER for some resolve?  Can we turn on THE GRIND SWITCH and really ask ourselves, do I need this? How will it make me feel?  Can I push a little harder? The rewards are so worth it! Before we splurge, miss workouts, or bail on a promise we’ve made...
REBELLION: The Grind

REBELLION: The Grind

Week Two: Here comes the hustle. During Week One we kicked off with a single truth: The biggest successes in the world are born out of passion.  To succeed, we must LOVE what we’re doing.  Letting go of what holds us back, making space for all the good sh*t, and using The Get Force to keep a positive state of mind - this is how we get there. Here’s another truth we cannot change: The road to great success is paved with HARD WORK. This goes against everything the quick-fix solicitors have been telling us all our lives.  Any of this sound familiar? Do this 21 day detox and change your whole body for life! Take this course and change your whole career overnight! Take these supplements and burn fat just sitting! Sell these products on the side, you’ll get rich! Do what you love and the rest will follow! We’re sorry to break the news but all of this - yes, EVEN the last point - is BULLSH*T. Everything worth having comes from the hard work it takes to MAKE it happen.  No way around it.  As Rebels we not only accept this, we EMBRACE THE GRIND.  We’re not looking for short cuts or cheap solutions, we’re going for gold and loving (almost) every second of the journey. What holds us back? GUILT:  Turns out we FEEL BADLY focusing on our own goals, and would sooner put others first.  Don’t we deserve to be all we can? Isn’t that better for those around us? FEAR: Sometimes disguised as procrastination.  What if we fail? What if we don’t like what we uncover on the other side...
The Take-Back Smackdown

The Take-Back Smackdown

We’re taking it back and changing our thinking. We’ve talked about damaging ideals, dieting obsessions, and the way the industry wants us to measure and weigh ourselves like meat at the deli counter. What’s the big thing you’re taking back?  In what ways are you letting go of the BS? What if we stopped telling ourselves, “I’ll be happy when…”? What would life be like if we stopped comparing from a place of discouragement, and started believing, aspiring and striving? We’ve all caught ourselves having internal dialogue… “Once I: drop ten pounds have ripped abs fit into those jeans sail through burpees quit my job buy that car… I’ll be happy. I’ll be who I want to be.” There’s nothing wrong with these aspirations.  Maybe you’ll legit feel killer fitting into those badass jeans; maybe sailing around in those fancy new wheels will bring hours of road-trip pleasure. What we need to take back is the idea that we are somehow “less than” NOW. Just because we want to evolve, it doesn’t mean that we currently suck. Am I right?  Changing our thinking isn’t easy, but Revvers have superpowers.  Let’s go back to the GET Force, shall we? We don’t HAVE to drag our heels on the long road to where we want to be.  Let’s remind ourselves every day: I GET to be STRONG ENOUGH to be on this fitness journey. I GET to experience these personal challenges, and test my resolve.  I GET to aspire to all kinds of things, and today, I GET to feel good knowing that I am one superstar badass Rebel who’s driven and...
The GET Force

The GET Force

Spin it right. The alarm goes off.  After pressing snooze 2 or 15 times, we lay there for a second all cozy under the covers when - WHAMMO -  the endless list makes its appearance.  “Oh man,” we think.  Then it goes a little something like this: I HAVE TO: get up shower dress make lunches battle road construction traffic meet that deadline deal with that jackass (insert frustrating person from of the day) find time for a workout eat kale take the kids to hockey call my mother in law shovel the driveway ….. We’ll stop here; we all know just how long the list is EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.  The anxiety sets in. The dread. How the hell are we going to get this all done?  Why don’t we have a 24/7 butler? The GET Force works like this. We don’t have to, Rebel.  WE GET TO.  People who crush life the hardest are the ones with a POSITIVE OUTLOOK.  Nourishing food, careers we love, workouts that feel incredible…all these facets in life are things we GET to have and do. We know this but man, it gets overwhelming some days. Know what else we GET to do?  Say NO. Pay that kid across the street to shovel; ask for help on that project; say no to traffic - walk or carpool.  We can also QUIT.  Sometimes quitting is one of the most renegade things we can do.  Stale friendships, a boring course, soul-sucking projects…how would we feel if we started cutting the cord on things that don’t motivate and energize us? Part of being a Rebel is choosing what we GET TO...
